YOUNG AGENDA
.

The demonstrations and marches that took place in Colombia since November 21, 2019, marked a milestone in the country, not to mention the historical relevance of the 2021 National Strike in Colombia. Most of these demonstrations were organized and accompanied by young people.

Despite the active participation of young people and the leadership they have assumed in various projects that strengthen the social fabric and the construction of peace, territorial transformation is at risk due to the exacerbation of the dynamics of violence in different territories and the human rights violations. The increase in massacres, homicides, disappearances, accidents by antipersonnel mines, forced recruitment of minors, among other effects, have directly hit young people in Colombia, putting their integrity at risk, denying the opportunity to lead the structural transformations that the country requires.

.

Guaranteeing security, human rights and strengthening governance in the national territory is an obligation of the State. The disputes for power and the use of violence as a mechanism of social control in the territories is the consequence of years of state presence. His resurgence in recent days is also a result of failure to implement the peace agreement in full and interdependent.

.

In January 2020, in response to the social protest, the national government launched a space for citizen participation called the National Conversation, which had an exclusive space for youth dialogue that generated proposals and the identification of needs on the part of the people. young assistants. The needs prioritized by young people were, among others, the implementation of the peace agreement, the protection and defense of human rights, the real involvement in the development of the PDET (Development Programs with a Territorial Approach) and achieving an institutional and face-to-face state offer of quality in the most vulnerable and remote places of the country.

Likewise, in the National Conversation, the youth asked the National Government to maintain the channels of dialogue, however, the Government did not give any response to all these needs and proposals and left the process of conversation that began unfinished.

.

It is there where youth (groups, civil society organizations) decide to organize and start from this form of youth-led citizen mobilization, Agenda Joven is born in 2020, as a diverse, pluralistic and participatory citizen initiative that is born out of necessity. to build and connect strategies and actions in the short, medium and long term to defend common causes, create youth cohesion in favor of life, peace building, transformation of territories and the effective participation of young people in decision-making levels local and national.

.

More than 1,000 young people from different regions of Colombia are part of this initiative, which seeks to convene youth leaderships to achieve a cohesive movement, willing to lead the transformation in our territories, of Colombia.

.

Young Agenda, as a citizen initiative, has managed to draw the attention of the national government specifically to the Council for the Stabilization of the Presidency, and today today we mobilize in a peaceful and pro-positive way, we organize and train ourselves to strengthen and lead the implementation of the Development Programs with a Territorial Approach (PDET, which are subregional programs for comprehensive rural transformation over 10 years to implement Rural Reform, first point of the peace agreement); an example like few others, of citizen advocacy in decision-making spaces in which Colombian youth are interested in participating and promoting actions for transformation and territorial governance in each of their territories, which fills us with pride and makes us motivates to continue summoning more young people.

Young Agenda is a citizen initiative It does not belong to the government, or to any expensive figure, political party or organization. We are young people with initiatives and social organizations leading change and transformation in the territories.
